I am very happy to tell you that the film, Taking Root:  the Vision of Wangari Maathai, produced and directed by Lisa Merton and Alan Dater, is showing at international and domestic film festivals.  I composed the original score for Taking Root, and am so proud to be a part of this project and what it stands for.  Any of you who cares about the environment - this is a film for you!  Wangari Maathai has a special gift - she inspires the viewers while sharing her belief that anything is possible.  After watching this film, you will agree, that anyone can achieve their goals as long as they are ready to work hard.  She has faced so many hardships and obstacles - even the threat of death - yet succeeded in changing a nation. 

Writing music for this film was a healing experience in itself.  The film clips that I viewed while composing were very moving and many times I felt so connected to Wangari and what she experienced, that it felt like she gave me the songs to write.
